GEOTHERMAL/SOLAR
Geothermal:
Ground Source Heat Pumps, GeoExchange TM*, Thermal Exchange, Energy Exchange and Earth Energy Exchange are all variably known as Geothermal. Even Air to Air “heat” pumps are considered forms of Geothermal Energy.
Why Geothermal?
Geothermal is environmentally sensitive (definitely a green technology). Nothing is being burned. Geothermal is very cost effective (initial installation costs are higher than conventional systems) by achieving incredible efficiencies. C.O.P.’s (Coefficient of Performance) of up to 3.0 to 4.0. This means every kilowatt of energy put in, gets a heating or cooling equivalent of 3 or 4 back (300 to 400% efficient). Technologies are continually evolving and there are many options and solutions. With the introduction of DX systems (direct exchange) we can introduce geothermal to small “city” properties.
* GeoExchange TM* trademark is a Canadian quality assurance designation managed by the GeoExchange coalition and owned by the Geothermal Heat Pump Consortium
Solar:
Solar thermal systems convert solar (sun) radiation into heat or electricity known as photovoltaic. Solar thermal systems supplement heating systems (commonly used for pool supplement heating). Photovoltaic systems convert electrical energy to household power and store extra energy in batteries.
