By adding a second floor, this addition is a dramatic transformation from the existing. The addition is a total rebuild of the ground floor (except the exterior walls) and the addition of a second floor.
Dramatic roof lines were used to add additional space as well as for aesthetic reasons. Angled windows and dormers further compliment the exterior view.
Immediately upon entering the addition, one is taken aback; a large tiled vestibule leads to an open concept dining/kitchen area. The kitchen was designed for privacy, yet, maintaining the open concept. The breakfast area leads out onto a large cedar deck, inviting the outdoors, An open stairwell, with oak stairs and railing lead to the upper floor.
The upper floor consists of a master suite with large vaulted ceilings, en suite, walk in closet, and French balcony. The view from the master suite is spectacular; overlooking the Ottawa River. The entire upper floor rooms are vaulted. Glass block accents were used to add additional light, and where privacy was required.
