Music & kids: Ottawa in July

Summer is meant for music, families, and kids, and the Ottawa area is one of the best places to enjoy it all. Here are some of the activities and events the Lagois team thinks you might like in hot, summery July. Don’t forget hats, water and sunscreen!
Lone Star H.O.P.E. Volleyball SummerFest
July 11
Mooney’s Bay Park and Beach
2960 Riverside Drive
Since 1982, this event has been raising money for various charities. It involves 6,000 players and dozens of vendors during the month of July. The charities for 2026 are: Children’s Aid Foundation of Ottawa; Children at Risk; CHEO Foundation; and Shepherds of Good Hope Foundation. Besides volleyball, there is a rock music show in the main bar during afternoon and evening.
H.O.P.E. is a volunteer, not-for-profit event management organization that raises funds for community-based charities. More information here.
Stewart Park Festival
July 17-19
Stewart Park, Perth Ontario
Entry by donation
A truly fabulous three-day musicfest celebrating live music, community, and creativity with a diverse lineup of Canadian and international artists, an eclectic artisan marketplace, delicious food vendors, a licensed patio, kids' activities, and after-hours shows.

Chamberfest 2026
July 23 - Aug. 2
Ottawa Chamberfest returns with a vibrant celebration of chamber music ranging between cherished traditions and fresh perspectives, ”inviting you into rich, authentic experiences and the simple, powerful act of listening.”
Ottawa Chamberfest has been sharing music for 31 years now in various venues around the city. More information and scheduling, here.
Ottawa Bluesfest
July 9 - 19
Lebreton Flats, 1 Vimy Place (next to the Canadian War Museum)
This is one of the largest music festivals in Canada, known for its diverse lineup that goes beyond just blues to include a wide range of genres. It attracts hundreds of thousands of music lovers over the course of two weeks. Although pure “blues” was its original makeup, it now also includes an eclectic assortment of “big names”. Wendover Country festival
To July 11
Lucien-Delorme Community Hall, 5000 Centre Street, Wendover, Ontario
(About a 40 to 50-minute drive east of downtown Ottawa)
If you like country music, this will be a great place to go. Organized by the Wendover Optimist Club, it draws thousands of country and western music fans from across Eastern Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick for French and English country, bluegrass, and western music, dancing, live concerts, and community activities.

Music and Beyond Festival
To July 17
At various venues throughout Ottawa
This is a unique and truly creative event, a vibrant cultural hub, that bridges classical music with other forms of art ‒ for example, visual art, dance, theatre, poetry, and film. Its aim is to introduce and encourage new audiences to music and the arts, and to provide opportunities for young people in the community.

Canada Agriculture and Food Museum
All summer long, to September 7
901 Prince of Wales Drive
What a wonderful place to bring children and grandchildren: an experimental farm just for them. This is a fully-functional working farm and museum, highly interactive and family-friendly. Explore the barns, take part in hands-on cooking demonstrations, see agricultural exhibits and animal demonstrations, and learn about soil science. There is also a series of day camps.
