Summer, strictly speaking, is over, but the weather is still warm, the sun is still bright, the kids are back at school, and all’s right with the world. It’s a perfect time for day trips both inside and outside the city.


We love Ottawa and area in early fall. Here are a few suggestions:


What about a corn maze?



Ouimet Farms Adventure

Throughout September

63 Main St W, Vankleek Hill 

This could be a wonderful whole-day adventure for all ages. Ouimet Farms is a working farm with not only a giant corn maze but all kinds of activities, especially for children.

How about making a fall wreath?



Fall Wreath Workshop

Sept. 10, 5 pm to 7 pm

282 Richmond Road

Design and build your own wreath using a mix of dried florals, berries, wheat, and foraged textures, all in warm, autumn-inspired tones. No experience necessary. Each ticket includes materials for one wreath.

In Westboro, Wellington West and Hintonburg neighbourhoods 

Meet 19 of the city’s artists, ask questions, buy original art or simply wander and enjoy.

September 12–13, 10 am to 4 pm

It’s a weekend of beautiful original art by talented local Ottawa artists.

Kanata Craft Beer Festival

Sept. 11 and 12

Taste beer, ciders, and cocktails from about 25 local and regional craft breweries. There are local food trucks and a great live music lineup with local musicians.

Taste of Manotick

Sept. 12, 2 pm to 6 pm

Manotick Main Street

Manotick’s annual street festival celebrates the local food and shops of Manotick. Visit local eateries, cafes, and shops offering gourmet treats and delicious food samples. Local specialty stores, gift shops, and artisans line the street with demos and displays. Live music and family-friendly activities take place throughout the afternoon and evening.

Westporch Festival 2026 ‒ a song on every porch

September 19 12 pm to 11 pm

Throughout Westport

Westporch is a free outdoor walking tour of Westport, where front porches become showcases for talented local musicians.

There is a “Kick Off Party” at The Cove Inn the night before (Sept. 18), featuring The Brothers Plaid with Jeff Callery and Shawn McCullough from 5-8pm on The Cove Inn Patio.
