The sweet, hot first day of summer: motorcycles sparkled in the sunshine and riders were raring to go.
It was the annual Motorcycle Ride for ROSSS with the Lagois team and friends.

It began bright and early at the ROSSS office in Manotick. Riders took a scenic route around rural Ottawa South with poker run stops along the way and finished early afternoon at the Lagois Design·Build·Renovate offices in North Gower.

And it was a party! Tables and chairs with large umbrellas for shade were set up in the front Lagois parking area. There were hamburgers (with the great hamburger-flipper, City Councillor/Deputy Mayor ‒ Ward 21 David Brown,) and hot dogs, drinks, chips and drinks. There was live music by John Wilberforce. There were prizes and a silent auction.

There was a sweet and friendly dog by the name of Tino. And there was the lively chatter of people who simply like being together.

The annual Ride for ROSSS is a fundraising venture for Rural Ottawa South Senior Services. ROSSS is an organization providing affordable, quality health and social programs that support older adults, adults living with disabilities and their caregivers in rural communities south of Ottawa. Every $50 raised allows ROSSS to deliver a week's worth of Meals on Wheels to a rural senior.

Herb Lagois, Founder of Lagois Design-Build-Renovate and an avid motorcyclist, was instrumental in creating the Ride four years ago.
Sponsors of this year’s event were, besides Lagois, W.O Stinson and Yates Sprinklers. Also on hand were the wonderful ROSSS volunteers who worked so hard to make everything run smoothly.

Money raised from the Ride helps to ensure that rural seniors in Ottawa South continue to be supported and respected.

Lagois President, Jacob Kirst, says next year’s Ride promises to be even bigger. He already has some nifty ideas. Stay tuned!
