March wouldn’t be March without them!
Here are some sweet and fun places to visit during this delightful pre-spring season.
Proulx Farm's Maple Fest
1865 O'Toole Rd, Cumberland, ON K4C 1N2
March 5 to April 10
Farm and sugar bush open Wednesday to Friday, 9 am to 4 pm; Brunch and pancake house open 9am to 3 pm (last seating at 2 pm).
Enjoy a traditional brunch at the pancake house, explore the farm, and participate in maple syrup-related activities. No reservations are required for brunch.

The Log Farm Sugar Bush
670 Cedarview Rd, Nepean, Ont.
Open Thursday and Friday during March Break (March 13 & 14), 9 am to 4 pm. (Last admission at 3 pm.)
Also open on weekends in March from 9 am to 4 pm.
The Log Farm offers a hands-on sugar bush experience, including wagon rides to the sugar bush, maple syrup production demonstrations, taffy on snow, farm animal visits, and play areas for children. The pioneer farmhouse is also open for self-guided tours.

Stanley's Sugarbush
Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm, 2452 York's Corners Rd, Edwards, Ont.
March Break: March 11 to March 14 (Tuesday to Friday), 10 am to 2 pm.
Pancake House: 10 am to 2 pm (last seating at 1:30 pm).
(Also open Saturdays and Sundays, March 1 to April 20, 10 am to 3 pm.)
Activities include visits to the heritage sugar shack (an old log cabin), tractor rides, animal barn visits, walking trails, and making taffy in the snow. The Pancake House offers traditional pancake breakfasts and sugarbush items.

Fulton's Sugar Bush and Maple Shop
399 Sugar Bush Rd, Pakenham, Ont.
March 1 to April 20, 10 am to 3 pm Monday to Friday; 10 am to 4 pm Saturday and Sunday.
Fulton's Sugar Bush offers trails, an outdoor play area, sleigh rides, maple taffy and of course maple syrup and other products.

School Break Fun
You know Spring is near when it’s March Break time. This year schools will be closed from March 10-14, and many families will be looking for ways for children to have an extra-special week of fun. Here are some suggestions.

March Break Camp

Campers from 4 to 12 years old have a week of fun with a different theme for each day that includes crafts, activities, trips, and special guests.
Busy Minds Education®
There are several activities here for children and youth sponsored by the Ottawa Catholic School Board’s Continuing and Community Education department. There is a staff-to-child ratio of about 1:12.

Busy Minds March Break Camp

For children 4 to 13 years old. An exciting March Break camp packed with games, creative crafts, and activities that promote mindfulness and self-awareness. These include yoga, dance, gym sessions, t-shirt design and a glow-stick dance party.
Musical Theatre Winter Workshop
Sacred Heart Catholic High School, 5870 Abbott St. E, Stittsville
8:30 am – 3:30 pm
For children aged 8 to 12 years old: Music, drama and dance. The West End Players show children all aspects of musical theatre with a showcase at the end for family and friends.
Game On Sports Camp
Frank Ryan Catholic Intermediate School, 128 Chesterton Dr., Nepean
9am – 4pm
For children aged 7 to 13 years old. Campers participate in a variety of sports with the aim of developing and improving fundamental movement skills.
Rautins-House Basketball Camp
Sacred Heart Catholic High School, 5870 Abbott St. E, Stittsville
9am – 4pm
For children and youth aged 7 to 16 years old. Instruction by top coaches and players for individual skills and fundamental development. Rautins-House t-shirt provided.
Canada Topflight Academy Basketball Skills Camp
Notre Dame High School, 710 Broadview Ave, Ottawa
9am – 4pm
For children and teens aged 10 to 17 years old, this camp features notable basketball instructors. Campers learn all facets of basketball with a focus on footwork, shooting, dribbling, and other individual, small-group concepts. CTA Skills Camp t-shirt included.
TTVG Spring Camp
St. Joseph High School (Barrhaven)
March 10 to March 14, 2025, 9 am to 5 pm
For children aged 5 to 13 years old. Chinese language study, storytelling, board games, sports, arts, dance, Beijing Opera.

Beginner Horseback Riding Day Camp
Wesley Clover Parks, 401 Corkstown Rd, Ottawa, ON K2H 8T1
March 10–14, 2025, 9 am to 4 pm
For children 7 years old and up. Wesley Clover Parks offer a beginner horseback riding day camp through the Ian Millar School of Horsemanship in a fun and safe environment. No experience is required.
Cost: $697.73 + HST.

Hip Hop March Break Camp 2025

Children aged 7 to 12 years old learn the latest hip hop dance moves and street dance culture. They experience how to be DJs, create graffiti art and develop their own choreographies. There is a final showcase for friends and family on the last day.

The Ottawa School of Art offers many wonderful art-focused camps during March Break for children and youth. Programs include The Joy of Drawing, Art and Architecture, Mixed Media, Jewelry Making, Textile Art, Printmaking, and many others.

Museums in March (and all year round)
Ottawa is rich with museums and perfect venues for day trips and outings, especially during March Break. Here’s a list:
Canadian Museum of History
100 Laurier Street, Gatineau
Monday to Wednesday, Friday to Sunday: 9am – 5pm; Thursday: 9am – 7pm.
The Canadian Museum of History offers exhibits that explore Canada's rich history and cultural heritage. It also houses the Canadian Children's Museum, where kids can engage in interactive displays and activities and explore global cultures through imaginative play.
Canada Science and Technology Museum

Tuesday to Sunday: 9:am – 5pm; Closed on Mondays
The Canada Science and Technology Museum features interactive exhibits that celebrate Canada's scientific and technological heritage.

Canadian Museum of Nature

Everyone loves this museum, especially children. It has exhibits on natural history, including dinosaurs, mammals, minerals, and more, with interactive displays.

Canada Aviation and Space Museum

Another wonderful museum for children and families, with more than 130 civil and military aircraft, propellers and engines.

Canada Agriculture and Food Museum

Daily 9 am to 5 pm
As a working farm in the heart of Ottawa, this museum offers insights into Canada's agricultural heritage, with live animals and interactive exhibits that children love.
Diefenbunker: Canada's Cold War Museum
3929 Carp Road, Carp, Ont.
Wednesday to Sunday: 10 am to 4 pm; Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
A large four-storey concrete bunker and nuclear fallout shelter 75 feet underground that was designed and built under the auspices of Prime Minister John Diefenbaker during the Cold War between 1957 and 1961. Rich in Canadian history – a window into the past – the bunker was re-opened as a museum in 1998.
