During this year’s Reno Tour Parade of Homes in October, visitors were invited to bring a donation for the Ottawa Food Bank.
The response was generous. The Lagois location amassed a large amount of food and gifts of money.
So it was with great pride and satisfaction that Lagois President Jacob Kirst and Lagois Creative Director, Emma Kwan, delivered the goods to the Food Bank warehouse shortly afterwards.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who helped make this possible,” Jacob said, “and to Jessica Robson from the Ottawa Food Bank for welcoming us and sharing the amazing work their team does for our community.”
Other Reno Tour participants were: Amsted Design-Build; ARTium Design Build; Ottawa General Contractors; Revision Built; and RND Construction. Each also collected for the Food Bank.
Food insecurity in Ottawa has grown sharply in recent years. The Ottawa Food Bank reports that more than one in four households in the city struggles to afford enough food. This has more than doubled since 2019.

Many of the people who turn to the Food Bank are working individuals and families whose budgets can no longer keep pace with housing costs, utilities, transportation, and rising grocery prices.
The Ottawa Food Bank serves as the central hub for community programs across the city such as meal programs and services for newcomers and seniors. These agencies depend on the Food Bank’s ability to purchase food in bulk, store it safely, and distribute it efficiently. Fresh produce, dairy, and protein now make up a large share of what goes out each week.
Community donations from individuals and events such as Reno Tour make a big and important difference in the quality of life for so many.
