Spotted any robins lately?
They’re a beautiful sign that winter is just about over.

But wait! There’s also Ottawa’s spectacular Home and Garden Show at the EY Centre, 4899 Uplands Drive. It starts on March 20, the official first day of Spring.
Lagois president Jacob Kirst will be there on Saturday March 22 at 11 am as part of a panel discussing “Renovating Your Way to Health and Comfort”.
Not only about beauty
As Chair of the Renovators’ Council at the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association, Jacob will be joined by other local experts:
● Lynne Strickland, Director of Net Zero Housing Initiatives at the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA)
● Roy Nandram, President of RND Construction, a leader in energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly homes
● Casey Grey, founder of The Conscious Builder and host of The Conscious Builder Show on YouTube
● Stephen Magneron, master energy advisor and Ontario manager for Homesol Building Solutions.
The panel, moderated by Anita Murray, journalist and co-founder of All Things Home, will discuss creating an environment that is not only beautiful but comfortable, healthy, and energy efficient. The discussion will last for about an hour.
All panel participants are highly experienced in net zero-ready renovation. They are part of an initiative called “Towards Cost Effective Net Zero Energy Ready Residential Renovations”. The initiative is funded by Natural Resources Canada and led by the Net Zero Housing team from the Canadian Home Builders’ Association’s national office.
Panel participant Lynne Strickland, CHBA director, says the four-year initiative is almost in its final stage and there is increasing capacity in the Ottawa area to support deep retrofits of residential homes.
Half-price tickets
The Home Show will be worth the visit, for sure. But the panel discussion on March 22 might also be a good way to learn how to invest in the future of your home – and your comfort.
